Independent School Diversity Career Conference

Mission

Our mission is to elevate the private school experience for all students by increasing diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in faculty, staff, and administrators.

This conference is an opportunity for educators, faculty, staff, specialists, and administrators to connect with each other and  private / independent schools.

 

Attendees have the opportunity to attend panel discussions and speak directly with private / independent schools in Texas about positions. Registration is free for all attendees.

ABOUT -   Danyale Taylor is a native of Houston, Texas who began her dance career at the age of three.  She began studying ballet, tap, and gymnastics and later included modern, jazz, pointe, and cultural styles.  At the age of fifteen, she began dancing professionally at Six Flags Astroworld, in Houston.  During the six years she danced there, Ms. Taylor held the positions of dancer, dance captain, stage manager, and supervisor.  Ms. Taylor then attended Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas where she majored in dance. 

​

While studying at Sam Houston, Ms. Taylor appeared in several theatre productions, was a featured performer with the SHSU Dance Spectrum Company and the Raven Dance Project.  She was also a member of Alpha Psi Omega theatre fraternity, Chi Tau Epsilon dance honor society as well as Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.

Danyale and her husband Lee are the parents of Leeyah Sheri’ Williams who is the center of their world. Mrs. Williams is currently a member of the dance faculty at The Kinkaid School, an independent school in Houston, Texas where she teaches Upper School dance, choreographs the Upper School musicals, and teaches Rhythmic Movement to the Lower School.  She hopes to continue sharing her training and her love for dance with students for many years to come.

ABOUT - I'm a native Houstonian, the husband of Chloe Dorsey, and the father of Elyse, Josiah, Amina, and Jelani. I've worked in education for sixteen years, mainly as a college counselor. I work at The Post Oak School as the sole college counselor and community life coordinator, assisting the high school director with discipline, policy creation, and implementation. My passion is mentoring, challenging the norm, and helping people find their calling and reach their goals.

Keynote - The independent school Influence and the Impact on our future

ABOUT - Sheneq is Mom of an upper-schooler and twin middle-schoolers with 11 years’ experience at two independent schools. As a Vice President at Cadence Bank with 10+ years of experience, she blends financial, operational, strategy, and performance management expertise to lead cross-functional transformations and high impact initiatives. Sheneq has worked in the United States, Singapore and London, and brings a passion for diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, leading numerous employee resource and affinity groups throughout her career. Inspired by the experiences of her own children, Sheneq founded Indie School Commons and the ISC Diversity Career Conference to foster inclusion and belonging for students attending private / independent schools.
